Lighting

Low key lighting. Top lighting is used as they are trying t highlight the emotions of the character which in this case is scared. This helps creates mystery as you wonder why she is worried. Lastly, because of the lighting we can guess that it is noir type of film because of the colors.

The lighting in this shot is high key lighting as his body from the angle we are given is quite well lit up however we are left to ponder as to why he looks quite shocked and stunned due to his facial expression. As when the most use of a key light is to create a sense of realism, however, the actor does not give any information as to why he looks like that.

The key light can be directed from a variety of angles to create different effects. Underlighting comes from below the subject leading to a distorted effect.  This is often used in horror or science-fiction films. Top lighting comes from above and can be used to accentuate the features of a character.  It is often used to make film stars look more glamorous.

This still appears to have key lighting with a lack of filler light- this has created the effect of large and dramatic shadows. The lighting is high-key which I can tell because the woman's entire body is visible expect for the shadow  across her.
There is no other source of light than the natural light which may just be a studio light mimicking an outdoor light, the effect of this is to create realism in this scene as it may be intimate. The lack of light may also hint to the privacy the characters are in to be able to conduct such acts.

From this shot, it is most evident that this is High key lighting as the light and dark spaces are clearly seen within the shot. The characters are all outlines with a back-light creating the large shadow, the light is also used to only make the characters recognizable by their stature and not by how they appear, this may be due to the director wanting the characters to all seem menacing no matter how scary or big they may be.
